Scientific studies have shown that a child learns while they play. At Jacque's House we believe that a child's play is their work.
A child needs a rich environment to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. A child will grow socially and emotionally as they learn through group play, role modeling and adult facilitation. Through group activities a child learns how to live, work and play together. They become more independent learners and begin to problem-solve. At Jacque’s House we encourage group play by offering learning centers both indoors and outdoors for:
- Block Play
- Drama
- Art
- Science & Discovery
- Math Readiness
- Computer Exploration
- Music & Movement
- Early Reading Readines
PreschoolFirst
Jacque's House prescribes to the PreschoolFirst curriculum by The Source for Learning. Built on the work of the noted pediatric psychologist and early learning authority Dr. Sally Flagler, PreschoolFirst includes an open framework of more than 3,100 age-appropriate, hands-on activities grouped in the most popular themes typically used by early childhood educators. These original activities incorporate the 500 behaviors children should master to be ready for kindergarten as Dr. Flagler documented in her Infant-Preschool Play Assessment Scale (I-PAS). (PreschoolFirst)
PreschoolFirst is aligned to all state early learning standards, as well as NAEYC curriculum content and assessment guidelines, American Academy of Pediatrics developmental milestones and Head Start Outcomes Framework. Teachers can search and find activities by state standard using PreschoolFirst's optional standards integration. So accountability, as well as flexibility, is built in. We believe a child must also have time for personal discovery and time alone. We offer independent play by offering a library, quiet personal areas and personal art areas where a child can be alone and create on their own.
We believe a child learns at their own pace. We adapt our curriculum to meet the needs and interest of the child.
